Besides my professional services as an occupational therapist, I also present and workshop a range of education and training sessions, Be More Groups, or courses related to:

  • Executive functions
  • Metacognition
  • Thinking & learning
  • Creating Learning and Teaching Support Material (LTSM) that enhances learning.

My focus is always on REAL Thinking and Learning to Be More.   In other words to Be More aware, knowledgeable, equipped and empowered with strategies and skills to be a more effective learner, parent, educator, or professional.

Education and Training Offerings:

BE MORE Groups for Parents

  • These groups are initiated on request.
  • One parent can get a group of (at least 4) likeminded and interested parents together that want their children to Be More in one or more areas of their lives.
  • Groups can be hosted at BRET CARE Centre in the morning or at a private home.
  • A minimum of 2-3 sessions on a weekly or two-weekly basis.
  • Each session will last ±1½ to 2 hours.
  • Programs are tailor-made according to grade, and/or needs of children and parents.
  • In the future groups will be replaced by more online events and courses.  Examples: 7 Metacognitive Steps to Be More and Learning How to  Learn with the REAL Learning Process Path that are online courses hosted on the Udemy Platform.
  • Parents can also continue on their own and form a support group that meets on a regular basis to grow together to Be More effective as Parents.

BE MORE Groups for Educators

  • These groups are initiated on request.
  • One educator can get a group of (at least 4) likeminded and interested educators together.  The  educators will learn how they can help their students to Be More in one or more areas of their lives.  They will be empowered to provide More Metacognitive Support for the learners in their class or as part of the Learner Support or School Based Support Team for learners with learning challenges.
  • Groups can be hosted at a school or at BRET CARE Centre at a time that will be arranged.
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 sessions on a two-weekly or monthly basis will be done.
  • Each session will last ±1½ to 2 hours.
  • Programs are tailor-made according to the needs of the learners and educators.
  • In the future online events and courses will replace these groups.  Examples include: 7 Metacognitive Steps to Be More and Learning How to  Learn with the REAL Learning Process Path that are online courses hosted on the Udemy Platform.
  • Educators can also continue on their own and form a support group that meets on a regular basis to grow together to Be More effective as Educators.

BE MORE Groups for Private Practitioners

  • These groups are initiated on request.
  • One practitioner can get a group of (at least 4) likeminded and interested practitioners together that would like their clients to Be More in one or more areas of their lives.
  • Groups can be hosted at a practice or at BRET CARE Centre at a time that will be arranged.
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 sessions on a two-weekly or monthly basis will be done.
  • Each session will last ±2 hours.
  • Programs are tailor-made according to the needs of the practitioners, the clients they serve and the offerings of this practice.
  • Application for CPD accreditation will be done.
  • In the future groups will be replaced by more online events and courses.  Examples of courses are: 7 Metacognitive Steps to Be More and Learning How to  Learn with the REAL Learning Process Path that are online courses hosted on the Udemy Platform.
  • Therapists can also continue on their own and form a support group that meets on a regular basis to grow together to Be More effective as Therapists.

Education and Training Offerings:

POPP Talks

  • The purpose of the POPP Talks (Power of One Piece of Paper) is to empower larger groups of psychologists, therapists, educators, learner support staff, SBST teams, remedial teachers, parents and other interested persons, to support their clients, learners, or children to Be More in one or more areas of their lives.
  • Every POPP Talk will include an A4 colour laminated poster that captures the essence of the presentation, and that will be ready to use as a resource in the future.
  • These talks are presented at schools (or churches, etc.) that are prepared to host a talk.
  • Talks will be organized by this practice, but a school, church or an organization can also request a talk.
  • In the future groups will be replaced by more online events and courses.  Examples of courses include: 7 Metacognitive Steps to Be More and Learning How to  Learn with the REAL Learning Process Path that are online courses hosted on the Udemy Platform.

 

Education and Training Offerings:

Workshops/training for educators & professional practitioners

  • Workshops are organized from time to time within time constraints.
  • Educators and professional practitioners can contact me directly to request a workshop or to get a quote.
  • Workshops will focus on the Be More Approach, the development of executive function skills, thinking skills, learning skills, the development of Learning Teaching Support Material that enhances learning, and related topics.
  • In the future groups will be replaced by more online events and courses.  Examples: 7 Metacognitive Steps to Be More and Learning How to  Learn with the REAL Learning Process Path that are online courses hosted on the Udemy Platform.
